Wish I May, Wish I Might

Song theme -- Fishing dreams
Walking on the beach down Mexico way
I saw a shiny object tossed up by the waves
So I picked it up, chipped off some rust.
It looked something like an old oil lamp
The kind with a genie so I took a chance
And rubbed it up, I prayed for luck.
Then suddenly to my surprise
A cloud of smoke before my eyes
A booming voice said out loud
You’ve got one wish, so make it now.
Chorus:
Wish I may, wish I might
Fish all day and fish all night
Fish until the morning light
Wish I may, wish I might.
Next thing I knew I had a pole in hand
One cold beer and one fish on the sand
So I cooked it up, drank to my luck.
All day and night I had fish on the line
I caught enough fish for two lifetimes
So I said out loud, what should I do now?
The genie said, “If you’re pleased
Just toss me back into the sea
Someday someone will find the lamp
Rub it up, and then they’ll chant…”
Chorus:
Repeat
